The short answer

Your wedding photographer in Wakefield, at a glance

For couples marrying in Wakefield, Kaushik Bathia offers award winning wedding photography, with more than twenty five years of experience and over a thousand weddings behind the camera. We move with the rhythm of the day, quick when the action is fast and patient when it slows, so nothing important slips past unrecorded. Whatever your wedding looks like in Wakefield, a church service, a register office, a country house, a barn or a hotel, and whatever your traditions, we photograph the whole day as it happens. We travel throughout the country for weddings and have grown used to new venues quickly, arriving prepared and settling into a room without fuss. You can add an engagement shoot, a second photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across West Yorkshire and beyond, so wherever your day is held it is well within reach.

Serving Wakefield

Wedding photographs made in Wakefield

Wakefield is a Yorkshire cathedral city with country venues. Churches, banqueting halls, country estates and garden venues across West Yorkshire are all part of our regular calendar, and Ossett, Horbury and Castleford is well within it. Some couples marry quietly with a handful of witnesses and others before a full congregation, and we adapt our approach so the coverage suits the scale of your ceremony.

We tend to fade into the background and let you lead, photographing the day you planned rather than shaping it into something that suits the camera. Our editing is understated and true to life, favouring natural tones over heavy effects so your album still feels right many years from now. A relaxed portrait session is woven gently into the day, timed around the best light, so you get a short breather together and a few frames to keep forever.

Weddings take us to Wakefield more often than you might think. Wakefield is a Yorkshire cathedral city with country venues, and we are just as happy photographing couples in the neighbouring Bradford and Leeds. Venues we know well in and near Wakefield include Wentbridge House Hotel and Waterton Park Hotel.

Wakefield is a West Yorkshire cathedral city known for the Hepworth Wakefield gallery and its rhubarb growing heritage. Wakefield Westgate is on the East Coast Main Line, with Wakefield Kirkgate also serving the city and the M1 nearby. We often take couples to Thornes Park, the city's main open space with a circular parkland path for a few quiet portraits, and Wakefield Cathedral, which has the tallest spire in Yorkshire is a lovely backdrop nearby.

Every kind of wedding

Traditions we know and traditions we learn

In Wakefield and beyond, we have photographed ceremonies of every kind, and that experience means we anticipate each moment rather than chase it. We photograph civil ceremonies, religious services and humanist celebrations with the same care, honouring your traditions and the shape your day is meant to take. Vows are the heart of the day, and we photograph them without fuss, moving carefully and keeping our distance so the moment stays entirely yours.

From the morning preparations to the last dance, we cover the whole day, and we are glad to include an engagement shoot beforehand so you feel relaxed on camera. Group photographs need not feel like a chore, and we run them briskly and with good humour so you are soon back among your guests. The cutting of the cake and the first dance often draw the whole room in, and we photograph them from within the crowd so the pictures feel shared.

The whole celebration

The whole day, start to finish

We can photograph both of you preparing in separate rooms, then bring the two halves of the morning together in one clear part of your gallery. Multi part weddings ask for careful planning, and we agree the key moments across each gathering in advance so nothing important slips past unseen.

The finished collection should feel like living the day again in order, so we cover each stage with the same attention and let the story flow. We resist rushing, letting each part of the day have its own moment, so the story you keep is complete rather than a run of headline scenes.

Why choose us

Reputation built one Wakefield wedding at a time

Steadiness under pressure is earned, not claimed, and a thousand weddings of practice is why we stay calm when a moment arrives only once. We travel throughout the country for weddings and have grown used to new venues quickly, arriving prepared and settling into a room without fuss.

Distance is rarely an issue for us; we regularly drive out to West Yorkshire and further, arriving early so nothing feels rushed. Travel is simply part of the job for us, and a venue tucked away in West Yorkshire is one we will reach comfortably with time to spare.

Good to know

Wedding photography in Wakefield, frequently asked questions

For most weddings within a reasonable distance, travel is included and there is nothing extra to think about. For venues much further afield, or where an overnight stay is sensible, we may add a small contribution towards costs, which we will always agree with you beforehand. There are never any hidden fees.

Nerves are completely normal, and nearly every couple feels the same at first. Because we work mainly in a documentary way, most of the day asks nothing of you, so you soon forget we are there. An engagement shoot beforehand is a gentle way to practise, and by the wedding the camera feels far more familiar.

Yes. Every package includes your edited photographs in full resolution with no watermarks, delivered through a private online gallery you can download from and share. You are free to print them yourselves at any size, though we are also happy to produce albums, framed prints and wall art finished to a professional standard.

We edit every selected image by hand for colour, exposure and tone, keeping skin and daylight looking natural rather than heavily filtered. Retouching stays light, so we remove passing distractions and blemishes without reshaping how you actually look. If anything specific concerns you, tell us early and we will note it before the day.

Price matters, of course, but the photographs will outlast the day itself, so style and trust should come first. Choose someone whose work genuinely moves you and who you feel comfortable with, then find a package that fits. Your wedding cannot be photographed again, so it is worth getting this one decision right.

We keep the group photographs relaxed and efficient, so you are not left standing about for ages. It helps if you send us a short list of the combinations you would like beforehand, and if you nominate a friend or usher who knows everyone by name. We will gather people gently and have this part done quickly.

Weddings often drift a little, and we are relaxed about that. If you would like us to stay past the agreed finish time, we can usually add extra hours on the day, and we will let you know the cost before we carry on. We would much rather stay than miss a memorable moment.
