Name your photographer in Bradford
Bradford's Priestley Suite admits a single designated photographer for the ceremony itself, so give the registrar Kaushik's name ahead of the day.

Five big towns and cities sit within a few miles of each other in West Yorkshire, each with its own civic rooms and parks. Kaushik Bathia travels about 151 to 162 miles from Northwood for weddings here, and every journey and any overnight stay is quoted in writing.
The short answer
Yes. Kaushik Bathia photographs weddings in Dewsbury, Batley, Huddersfield, Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and the rest of West Yorkshire. The Northwood studio is about 151 to 162 miles away, with Dewsbury at about 153 miles, so travel and any hotel night are set out in a written quote before you book. Wedding photography starts from £750, with packages built around your day.
Superb and highly professional wedding photographer. We had the pleasure of working with Kaushik Bathia Photography for a recent wedding at Orchardleigh Estate.
…Kaushik's work is fantastic and he took so much stress out of our special day. He and his team are highly professional, fun and friendly and work with you to capture the shots that you want. He captured some amazing moments of both us and our guests, some natural, some posed but all truly wonderful. We were blown away by our albums and videos and have no hesitation in recommending him to our family and friends.
Kaushik is a fantastic photographer — professional, easy to work with, and incredibly talented. Highly recommend!
Kirklees
Dewsbury sits about 9 miles south-west of Leeds on the main line to Huddersfield and Manchester, and it is part of Kirklees. Its Victorian town hall, built between 1886 and 1889 in front of the old marketplace, contains a 700-seat concert hall and hosts weddings as well as concerts. Kirklees Registration Service runs a Victorian-style ceremony room there for 30 guests plus the couple, with larger rooms for 30 to 200.
Restoration after flooding and roof damage means some Dewsbury ceremonies are moving to another room in the building, so check which room is booked for your date. Note that Dewsbury is an appointment-only outstation: the one Kirklees register office is at Civic Centre 1 on High Street, Huddersfield.
For portraits, Crow Nest Park in Dewsbury Moor opened in 1893 on a hillside estate with an ornamental lake and a walled wildflower garden. A few miles north, Oakwell Hall in Birstall is a Grade I listed Elizabethan manor house in period gardens within 110 acres of country park. Read our Dewsbury wedding guide for more.

The civic ceremony rooms
Each West Yorkshire council runs its ceremonies differently. Leeds City Council uses Leeds Civic Hall on Calverley Street, where the West Room seats up to 38 and the Banquet Hall, on Saturdays only, up to 90. The Civic Hall has no parking of its own, and guests usually enter through the front doors on Millennium Square.
Bradford's Register Office is on the ground floor of City Hall. The Priestley Suite seats up to 34 guests plus the couple and two witnesses, and it allows one designated photographer during the ceremony, so book your photographer early and tell the registrar who it is. For more guests, City Hall offers the Banqueting Suite for up to 110, the tiered Council Chamber for 100 and the former Law Courts for 60.
Wakefield Register Office is at the Town Hall on Wood Street, where the Lofthouse Suite, with two ornate fireplaces, chandeliers and a grandfather clock, seats 45. Huddersfield Town Hall has a ceremony room for 30 plus the couple.
Venue types
West Yorkshire's licensed venues are varied. Around Wakefield the licensed list takes in galleries and gardens set in open parkland. Around Huddersfield, there are Victorian country houses with lakes, golf clubs and large hotels near the M62.
Leeds adds listed mansions in parkland and large hotel suites that open onto terraces. Bradford has purpose-built banqueting halls and city hotels with very large rooms. Near Batley and Liversedge, smaller licensed houses host one wedding at a time with the grounds free for photographs.
Tell us your venue and which rooms you have booked, and we will plan the ceremony, family groups and portraits around its rooms and gardens.

Portrait settings
The county's parks give real variety for couple portraits. In Leeds, Roundhay Park covers more than 700 acres of lakes, woodland and formal gardens, and Kirkstall Abbey, a ruined Cistercian monastery founded around 1152, stands in a park on the River Aire. Bradford's Lister Park has a Mughal-style water garden with channels, cascades and fountains beside Cartwright Hall.
Above Huddersfield, Castle Hill at Almondbury carries Iron Age hillfort remains and the Victoria Tower, 1,000 feet above sea level. Greenhead Park, half a mile from the town centre, was restored in 2012. South of Wakefield, Newmillerdam Country Park has a lake with a 1.5-mile path and an 1820s boathouse.
We choose one stop near your venue rather than a long drive. West Yorkshire traffic between towns can eat into a tight afternoon.
Season and travel
The western edge of the county rises towards the Pennines, and Huddersfield and the Kirklees towns catch more rain than Wakefield or east Leeds. We agree an indoor portrait plan before the day, and step out whenever the weather clears. Summer evenings give long light after the meal; winter weddings suit a midday ceremony.
From Northwood, Wakefield is the nearest town at about 151 miles and Bradford the farthest at about 162. At this distance an overnight stay is usually sensible and is set out in your written quote, together with the travel, before you book. Multi-day weddings are planned and costed one day at a time.
