Ask for the balcony
Crawley's Balcony Room can hold the ceremony out on an open balcony. It gives daylight on the vows and better photographs.

Crawley and Horsham are the nearest parts of West Sussex to our Northwood studio, at about 35 and 37 miles. Kaushik Bathia photographs weddings there and across the county, and the travel is written into your quote before you book.
The short answer
Yes. Kaushik Bathia photographs weddings in Crawley, Horsham and across West Sussex. Crawley is about 35 miles from the Northwood studio and Horsham about 37, so most weddings there are covered as a day trip, with an overnight stay only when an early start or a multi-day celebration calls for one. Wedding photography starts from £750, and the travel and any stay are set out in your written quote.
I had hired Mr Kaushik as our photographer for my son and daughters wedding fir all the ceremonies conducted and found him to be friendly professional with all the guests The quality of his photographs are excellent and are of high quality I was also very impressed when he had completed the albums He also give extra hours if needed and does not complain I would recommend to anyone
…Kaushik's work is fantastic and he took so much stress out of our special day. He and his team are highly professional, fun and friendly and work with you to capture the shots that you want. He captured some amazing moments of both us and our guests, some natural, some posed but all truly wonderful. We were blown away by our albums and videos and have no hesitation in recommending him to our family and friends.
I came in the shop very late to closing time and kaushik welcomed me in and met all of my photography needs.Much recommended ..Professional service will be returning :)
Two register settings
West Sussex County Council runs its register office in Crawley, with two first-floor ceremony rooms. The Balcony Room lets you hold the ceremony inside or out on an open balcony, which is the one to ask for if you want daylight on the vows. The Henshall Ceremony Suite is the more formal room, with a gold leaf artwork panel that makes a strong backdrop for the signing.
In Horsham, the county's ceremony rooms are in Park House, a Grade II listed Georgian building on North Street (RH12 1RL) at the edge of Horsham Park. The Drawing Room, with its original decorative ceiling, takes up to 30 guests and looks out over the park and a sensory garden.
Park House has an advantage for photographs: Horsham Park, 24 hectares with formal gardens and a maze, is directly outside. A short walk after the ceremony gives you couple portraits and family groups without moving the cars.

Distance, honestly
West Sussex is one of the nearer regions we cover outside the Home Counties, but it is on the far side of London from Northwood. Crawley is about 35 miles from the studio and Horsham about 37, and venues deeper into the Weald or towards the coast are further.
Most West Sussex weddings are covered as a long day, with Kaushik setting off early enough to arrive before the preparations. When the morning starts very early, or the celebration runs over two days, a local overnight stay can be sensible and is set out in your written quote. Either way, travel from Northwood is quoted up front and set out in writing before you book.
Guests coming by train have good options: Crawley station is on the Arun Valley line, and Three Bridges has Thameslink trains to Bedford and Cambridge and Southern trains to London Victoria. Horsham station has Southern and Thameslink trains to London Victoria and Peterborough.
The county's character
Crawley became a market town in 1202 and was designated a New Town in 1947, growing into 14 residential neighbourhoods around the old core. Gatwick Airport has been in the borough since 1974, and the Manor Royal estate covers 267 acres, so a Crawley wedding can easily include guests flying in.
Horsham feels very different. It is a market town on the upper River Arun, with the Carfax at its heart, still holding markets on Thursdays and Saturdays. The Causeway, a street of 17th- to early 19th-century houses under old London plane trees, leads to St Mary the Virgin, Horsham's oldest building and in use for nearly eight centuries.
Around both towns, the venue picture is country house hotels, listed manor houses in their own grounds, converted farmhouse hotels and contemporary country venues, some with large estates around them. Send us the one you choose, with its ceremony room and any outdoor spaces, and we plan the day around it.

Portraits and permits
Crawley has several green settings close together. Goffs Park on Horsham Road is the town's oldest park, with more than 20 hectares of woodland, lawns and a lake. Worth Park in Pound Hill is a restored garden with formal beds, a Victorian fountain and croquet lawns. The Memorial Gardens on College Road have a Victorian bandstand and a Handkerchief Tree that flowers white in spring.
One rule matters if you plan portraits at Buchan Country Park: West Sussex County Council requires a permit for paid photoshoots there, including wedding sessions. If you want photographs in Buchan, we arrange the permit question before the day rather than on it.
Near Horsham, Leonardslee at Lower Beeding has 240 acres of Grade I listed gardens with lakes and more than 100 Champion Trees, and Tilgate Park in Crawley has lakes, woodland and a historic walled garden.
Season and light
Spring in West Sussex brings blossom to the parks: the Handkerchief Tree in Crawley's Memorial Gardens flowers white then, and Horsham Park's formal gardens come back to life. Summer gives long evenings for portraits after the meal, and autumn turns the Weald's woodland to warm colours that suit an October wedding.
Winter weddings work well in a country house, with portraits taken soon after the ceremony while the light lasts and the rest of the day photographed inside.
