Use the Rows in the rain
Chester's Rows are covered walkways at first-floor level. If showers come in, they give a dry, characterful backdrop close to the cathedral.

Roman walls and Georgian riverside houses in Chester, a Mersey town with gilded gates in Warrington, and castles and manor hotels in the countryside between. Kaushik Bathia travels about 152 to 154 miles from Northwood for Cheshire weddings, with the journey and any stay set out in writing.
The short answer
Yes. Kaushik Bathia, based in Northwood since 2001, photographs weddings throughout Cheshire, including Chester, Warrington and the county's country house and castle venues. Chester is about 152 miles from the studio and Warrington about 154, so travel and any overnight stay are set out in your written quote before you book. Cheshire wedding photography starts from £750.
I hired Kaushik for our wedding and I’m extremely glad I did!! Kaushik took amazing pictures and the quality of the pictures were amazing. Kaushik was very patient and was very helpful since the start. My family including our guest were constantly asking me who the photographer was as he gave the best service.
Superb and highly professional wedding photographer. We had the pleasure of working with Kaushik Bathia Photography for a recent wedding at Orchardleigh Estate.
Would 100% recommend Kaushik Bathia Photography! Kaushik and his team photographed all my wedding functions and I couldn't be happier with the results. He listened to us, got to know our family and close one's and captured all the special moments. We had a great mixture of romantic portraits and natural candid photos of the ceremony. Thank you so much for the most beautiful, treasured wedding photos!
Two very different towns
Cheshire weddings divide neatly into west and north. Chester, founded around AD 75 as the Roman fortress of Deva Victrix, keeps an almost complete circuit of city walls nearly two miles long, the galleried shopping streets known as the Rows and a cathedral that was once St Werburgh's Abbey. It is administered by Cheshire West and Chester.
Warrington is the largest town in the ceremonial county, on the River Mersey 16 miles from both Liverpool and Manchester. It grew on wire, textiles, brewing and chemicals and was designated a new town in 1968, so its wedding settings mix Georgian civic buildings, town centre banks turned into venues and parkland on its southern edge.
Between the two lie the farms, woodland and estate villages that give Cheshire its country house reputation. A wedding can start in one area and finish in another with a short drive.

Register offices
Chester Register Office moved to Merchants House on Crook Street, and its new Merchants Suite held its first wedding on 1 May 2024, replacing Goldsmith House. It is a bright, triple-aspect room with its own entrance, which gives good, even daylight for the ceremony and the signing.
Warrington Borough Council's register office is at 1 Time Square. Its ceremony room takes up to 80 guests, while a statutory ceremony in the office itself allows no more than two guests acting as witnesses. The council names the Time Square multi-storey car park on Academy Way as the nearest place to park.
For a small civil wedding at either office, a shorter booking is possible. We cover the arrival, the ceremony, the signing and a portrait session nearby before the meal.
Venues
Cheshire's licensed venues lean towards history. Along the River Dee there are Georgian manors licensed for ceremonies indoors and out, and the countryside towards Tarporley has castles and country estates set in woodland with several ceremony rooms. Cheshire West and Chester Council's approved list for the Chester area also takes in city hotels, larger event spaces and Chester Town Hall.
Around Warrington, the choice runs from manor house hotels with landscaped gardens towards Lymm, to parkland halls with outdoor ceremony spots and converted bank buildings in the town centre.
Tell us your venue and the rooms you have booked, and we will plan the day around its spaces, its grounds and the walk between them.

Portraits in Chester
Chester gives couples a lot within a few minutes' walk. The Grade I listed Eastgate Clock, designed by John Douglas and opened in 1899 for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, is said to be the most photographed clock in England after Big Ben. The Rows offer covered walkways at first-floor level, which are useful when it rains.
Grosvenor Park is a 20-acre Victorian park overlooking the Dee, laid out by Edward Kemp and opened in 1867. Near it are the Roman amphitheatre, the largest known military amphitheatre in Britain, and the cathedral.
Busy shopping days and race days fill the city centre, so we plan early or late portrait walks and keep them short.
Portraits in Warrington
Warrington Town Hall on Sankey Street began life in 1750 as Bank Hall, a Georgian mansion designed by James Gibbs for the merchant Thomas Patten. In front of it stand the Golden Gates, made by the Coalbrookdale works for the 1862 International Exhibition and Grade II* listed with their piers and lamps.
Bank Park, next to the town hall, has floral displays, bowling greens and a pavilion, and is open 24 hours. Sankey Valley Park follows the old Sankey Canal with paths, wildlife and sculptures, a calmer setting for a relaxed walk.
Each of these is a short drive from Time Square, which makes them practical for couples marrying at the register office.

Travel and timing
Chester and Warrington are both about 150 miles from the studio. At this distance an overnight stay is usually sensible, and it is set out in your written quote alongside the travel before you book. Multi-day weddings are planned one day at a time.
Warrington Bank Quay is a principal stop on the West Coast Main Line, and Chester station on City Road is run by Transport for Wales, which can help on some itineraries. Spring and early autumn give gentle light along the Dee, while winter weddings benefit from a midday ceremony.

Planning

Warrington's register office points guests to the Time Square multi-storey on Academy Way. Share that with older relatives in advance.
Chester city centre gets busy on race days. If your date clashes, we plan a quieter portrait route and allow more time between venues.
