No photos during the vows
Leicester Town Hall does not allow photography during the ceremony. Plan for the re-staged signing and the separate photographic room straight afterwards, and tell guests in advance.

Kaushik Bathia travels up from Northwood to photograph Leicestershire weddings, from a Town Hall ceremony in Leicester to a country house day in the Wolds. Leicester is about 78 miles from the studio, so every booking comes with travel set out in writing first.
The short answer
Yes. Kaushik Bathia photographs weddings across Leicestershire, even though Leicester is about 78 miles from his Northwood studio and Loughborough about 88. Weddings travel across the UK, coverage starts from £750, and every package is bespoke. Travel, and an overnight stay if your timings need one, are quoted up front and set out in writing before you book, so the full cost is clear. Kaushik brings about 25 years behind the camera and five European Kodak Gold Awards.
I had hired Mr Kaushik as our photographer for my son and daughters wedding fir all the ceremonies conducted and found him to be friendly professional with all the guests The quality of his photographs are excellent and are of high quality I was also very impressed when he had completed the albums He also give extra hours if needed and does not complain I would recommend to anyone
Superb and highly professional wedding photographer. We had the pleasure of working with Kaushik Bathia Photography for a recent wedding at Orchardleigh Estate.
…Kaushik has an incredible eye for detail and an exceptional talent for capturing those fleeting, candid moments that made our wedding so unique. The photos are absolutely stunning—full of emotion, vibrancy, and creativity. He didn’t just take photographs; he told the story of our wedding day in the most heartfelt and artistic way possible.
The distance, plainly
We will not pretend Leicestershire is local. The studio sits on Joel Street in Northwood Hills, and Leicester is about 78 miles north of it, with Loughborough further on at about 88 miles. That is a long drive for one day, and it shapes how a wedding here is planned. What it does not do is limit the coverage: weddings travel across the UK, and a Leicestershire booking gets the same bespoke approach as one around the corner.
The practical question is the start time. If preparations start at 8am in Leicester, or the ceremony is out towards Charnwood, an overnight stay is usually sensible at this distance and is set out in your written quote. Whether it is needed depends on your timeline, and we will tell you honestly once we see it.
Some couples ask whether it makes more sense to book someone in the East Midlands. That is a fair question, and the answer depends on what you want from the photographs. If you have looked at Kaushik's work, read the 4.8 rating from 580+ Google reviews and want him in particular, the distance is a cost to weigh rather than a reason to rule him out.

Register offices
In the city, the register office is at Leicester Town Hall, entered from Town Hall Square. Its largest ceremony room is the Oak Room, a former courtroom that keeps its original wooden features and chandeliers and holds 80 people. The Fountain Room is the smaller choice, holding 40 and looking out over the Town Hall fountain. Both suit couples who want a civil ceremony in the centre, close to the city's parks for portraits afterwards.
Plan around one rule above all: Leicester Town Hall does not allow photographs during the ceremony itself. The registrar can re-stage the signing once the legal part is over, and couples in the Oak Room or the Fountain Room can use a separate photographic room. We build the timeline so that re-staged signing and the photographic room come straight after the vows, while everyone is still dressed and gathered.
In Charnwood, the county's Loughborough Registration Office is on Beaumanor Drive. It is no longer taking new ceremony bookings for its Railton Room, but you can still give notice of marriage there. So a couple living around Loughborough may give notice locally and then marry elsewhere in the county, at the Town Hall in the city or at an approved venue.
Venue types
Leicestershire's approved venues run from the grand to the civic. Out in the Leicestershire Wolds near Loughborough there are country estates hired exclusively, some offering cultural weddings alongside church and outdoor ones. Venues on that scale need time built in for walking: lakes and avenues are wonderful for portraits but they are rarely next to the reception room.
Closer to the town centres, the choice runs to listed civic buildings with ballrooms and country hotels with function rooms of very different sizes. Hotel and civic weddings are usually more compact, so the challenge shifts from distance to light: indoor rooms with tall windows need different handling from open parkland.
Whatever the venue, ask early whether your ceremony and your reception are in the same place. In a county with both city halls and estates in the Wolds, you may marry in one setting and celebrate in another, and the gap between them decides how long the portrait session can be.

Places for portraits
Leicester has two city parks that work well for an hour of portraits between ceremony and reception. Abbey Park, just north of the centre, sits in the grounds of the medieval St Mary's Abbey alongside the ruins of Cavendish House, with formal gardens, a lavender maze, a lake and riverside walks. It opened in 1882 on the flood plain of the River Soar and is Grade II* listed in Historic England's register of parks and gardens.
Victoria Park is the other option, the city's former racecourse close to the centre, with 69 acres of open space, tree-lined paths, the War Memorial Arch and the Peace Walk. The Arch gives a strong formal backdrop, while the tree-lined paths are softer and more relaxed. Which one fits depends on the look you want and how far your reception is from each.
In Loughborough, Queen's Park in the town centre opened in June 1899 for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee and has held a Green Flag award every year since 2008. It holds the Carillon war memorial, a bandstand and Charnwood Museum, with entrances on Brown's Lane, New Street and Granby Street. For a town-centre wedding in Loughborough it is a short walk, which keeps the portrait time for portraits rather than travel.
Seasons and timing
Summer gives the longest light and the most freedom for parkland portraits, which matters most at the estates in the Wolds. Late spring and early autumn are calmer, with lower sun that flatters faces and makes long avenues of trees glow. Winter weddings in Leicestershire tend to lean on interiors, so a former courtroom with chandeliers or a listed ballroom becomes the main setting.
Leicester's winter has its own character. The Golden Mile on Belgrave Road is known for its winter illuminations and for Diwali celebrations described as the largest outside India. If your wedding falls in that season, bear in mind that the city will be busy, and allow extra time for guests and suppliers moving through the centre.
For couples booking from a distance, we suggest sending us your ceremony time early. With Leicester about 78 miles from the studio, an 11am ceremony and a 2pm ceremony lead to quite different travel plans, and we would rather agree the plan before you book than adjust it afterwards.

Planning
Leicester Town Hall does not allow photography during the ceremony. Plan for the re-staged signing and the separate photographic room straight afterwards, and tell guests in advance.
The Loughborough Registration Office on Beaumanor Drive still takes notice of marriage for the area, though its Railton Room no longer takes new ceremony bookings.
With Leicester about 78 miles from Northwood and an early start, an overnight stay is usually sensible at this distance and is set out in your written quote.
Wolds estates with lakes and long avenues need gaps in the timeline for walking between the ceremony room, the grounds and the reception.
Leicester station is on the Midland Main Line, about 99 miles from London St Pancras, which helps guests coming from the south.
