One is the room in which vows are said; licensed rooms are, more often than not, the tightest and dimmest space anybody uses all day, and while you are inside one it answers to a registrar rather than to you. The other is what you do with the hour afterwards, which is the only unallocated hour you are likely to get.

Only that hour is genuinely yours. Open ground beside the Severn puts a low horizon and sky in every direction, which behaves nothing like a walled courtyard and wants a wider lens and a lower angle.
