The signing afterwards is the part nobody plans for. A nikah-nama travels round a table, witnesses lean across it, and the pen has moved on before anybody remembers a photograph was wanted. So we ask where that table goes and arrive at it first. Mehndi and walima are looser evenings that repay patience; rukhsati is their opposite, finished within a minute, worth waiting outside twenty to catch.
