During the choora ceremony we photograph the red and ivory bangles being slipped on by your maternal uncle, the blessings of the family and the tears that usually arrive with them. Surma applied by an elder before the sehra is tied takes seconds, and we stay tight on the groom's face for it, because the tenderness in that gesture is easy to miss entirely.
