Marriage is complete in Sikh terms once the fourth laav ends, and we mark that in the album with a frame of you both bowed before the Guru Granth Sahib as a married couple. Karah parshad closes the anand karaj, and we photograph the warm handfuls being shared down the rows, one of the small moments couples are always glad to have kept.
When the baraat reaches the gurdwara gates, we photograph the dancing peaking, the family spilling out to receive it and the groom arriving to the loudest welcome of his life. At the reception we photograph the entrance as a highlight, the announcement, the walk in and the cheer as you arrive to bhangra with everyone you love. We photograph the sehra bandi as the last quiet chapter of the groom's morning, the turban finished, the sehra tied and the mother's blessing before the noise of the baraat begins.

First light through a bedroom window is the best light of the whole day, and we make a point of arriving early enough to use it on the jewellery, the lehnga and the quiet nerves. The choora ceremony at dawn is intimate and emotional, and we photograph the maternal uncle sliding on the red and ivory bangles with real care.
Two venues, several hundred guests and a fourteen-hour day is a normal Saturday for us, and the pacing that makes it work has been learned across twenty-five years of them. Inside the darbar hall we work quietly and without flash, following the kirtan and the laavan at a respectful distance from the Guru Granth Sahib.
