We let the Anand Karaj unfold at its own pace and meet the four laavan with a quiet, watchful eye. We follow your family's Sikh customs closely and photograph the sehra bandi and the palla exactly as you keep them.

For portraits away from the celebration, Westgate Gardens, riverside gardens on the Great Stour, and Dane John Gardens works beautifully, and Canterbury Cathedral, seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury, and St Augustine's Abbey adds a real sense of place.

The Anand Karaj and the four laavan

Heads covered and seated on the floor with the sangat, we photograph the laavan without ever intruding. The ardaas and the hukamnama that frame the ceremony are moments of stillness we capture with care. The most sacred moments inside the gurdwara are captured with a quiet long lens, from a respectful distance.

The day often opens early with kirtan in the gurdwara, and we are there for it. The maiyan, when turmeric is applied, is full of colour and play, and often holds the warmest moments. From the turmeric of the maiyan to the music of the jaggo, the events set the tone for the wedding.
