The short answer
An award winning, London based wedding photographer, Kaushik Bathia has spent more than twenty five years photographing weddings in Thatcham and right across Berkshire. Rather than lining people up, we let groups form on their own and photograph them as they laugh and talk, keeping the whole thing loose and relaxed. Whatever your wedding looks like in Thatcham, a church service, a register office, a country house, a barn or a hotel, and whatever your traditions, we photograph the whole day as it happens. We have handled enough weddings to stay unflustered when a plan changes at short notice, keeping the mood light while we quietly work around it. You can add an engagement shoot, a second photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across Berkshire and beyond, so wherever your day is held it is well within reach.
Serving Thatcham
Thatcham is a West Berkshire town in the Kennet valley. You will find us at home in a parish church, a converted barn or a smart hotel, and our venue diary reaches right across Newbury, Cold Ash and Aldermaston and the rest of Berkshire. Your ceremony sets the tone for everything that follows, so we photograph it faithfully and quietly, letting the vows and the setting carry the story.
The whole day is covered as it comes, without rehearsed poses or long setups, so you are free to be present with your guests while we quietly work. Rather than lining people up, we let groups form on their own and photograph them as they laugh and talk, keeping the whole thing loose and relaxed. Small, telling details matter to us as much as the big set pieces, so we photograph the handwritten notes, the borrowed jewellery and the quiet glances between courses.
There is a lot to like about photographing in Thatcham. Thatcham is a West Berkshire town in the Kennet valley, and couples from Slough and Reading regularly ask us to cover their day here as well. Close to Thatcham, we have worked at venues including Regency Park Hotel, Newbury Racecourse and Wasing Park.
Thatcham is a West Berkshire town in the Kennet valley, reputed to be one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in Britain. Thatcham railway station is on the Great Western line between Reading and Newbury, with the town lying beside the Kennet and Avon Canal. For relaxed couple photographs, we like The Nature Discovery Centre nature reserve at Thatcham, and St Mary's Church, Thatcham gives the day a strong sense of Thatcham.

What we offer
For weddings that run across two or three days, we build coverage around each event so nothing is left out.
We stay from the morning preparations through to the evening, so the whole story is there in one set.
The family groups are done kindly and briskly, worked out beforehand so nobody stands around waiting.
Every kind of wedding
We are comfortable in Thatcham venues of every kind, and we plan quietly with your officiant or celebrant beforehand so nothing about the service surprises us. However your ceremony unfolds, in a chapel, a barn or a hotel garden room, we stay quietly at the edges and let the words and the looks between you speak for themselves. Church, courtyard, clifftop or town hall, wherever you choose to make your promises, we frame the reactions on both sides and the quiet glance you share halfway through.
We photograph the speeches from more than one angle when a second photographer is with us, so you keep both the joke and the reaction to it. From the buttonholes being pinned to the sparklers at the door, we follow the surrounding events of the day and treat each one as part of the same story. The cutting of the cake and the first dance often draw the whole room in, and we photograph them from within the crowd so the pictures feel shared.

The whole celebration
We build the timeline around the light as well as the schedule, so portraits and early moments fall when the day looks its most flattering. Starting with the preparations lets us gather the small details, the shoes, the rings, the handwritten notes, before the day gathers pace around you.
A good record of the day has a shape to it, a beginning, a middle and an end, and we build that arc rather than collecting a pile of loose pictures. Some of the pictures you treasure most will be the small ones between events, so we stay present through the whole day and never switch off in the quiet stretches.
Why choose us
We have handled enough weddings to stay unflustered when a plan changes at short notice, keeping the mood light while we quietly work around it. Trust is built on evidence, and between the awards, the albums and the long list of couples before you, there is plenty to reassure you before you book.
We build a generous cushion into every travel plan, so we are set up and ready at your Berkshire venue long before the first guests arrive. When a day is spread out or the drive is a long one, a second photographer can travel with us so coverage across Berkshire stays unbroken.

Where we travel
A day that moves between two or three venues asks for careful timing, and we sort the route and the schedule well before we leave for Newbury, Cold Ash and Aldermaston. We come to you, wherever the day unfolds, and we are comfortable covering venues throughout Berkshire and the surrounding counties.

Good to know
We would love that. Meeting in person, or over a video call if that is easier, helps you get a feel for how we work and lets us hear all about your plans. There is no pressure at all; it is simply a friendly conversation so you can decide with real confidence.
Once you are happy to go ahead, we hold your date with a signed agreement and a booking fee. Until both are in place we cannot promise the date will still be free, as we take a limited number of weddings each year. We would always encourage you to get in touch early to avoid disappointment.
Popular dates, especially in summer and around bank holidays, can be taken a year or more ahead, so earlier is always safer. That said, if your Thatcham wedding is sooner, do still ask, as we sometimes have dates free at shorter notice. A quick call is the fastest way to find out.
We offer engagement shoots and many couples find them a lovely warm-up before the wedding. It is a relaxed hour or two that lets us get to know one another, so you feel at ease in front of the camera on the day. The images are yours to use for save-the-dates or simply to enjoy.
We can, and many couples like us to stay through the speeches and first dance, as those are some of the warmest moments of the whole day. If you would prefer coverage to finish a little earlier, that works just as well. We will agree the finish time in advance so there are no surprises.
Yes, and we encourage it. After twenty-five years and more than a thousand weddings, we know how long each part really takes, from getting ready to the first dance. We are glad to review your draft schedule and suggest small adjustments, so the day flows and the photography never feels squeezed.
Price matters, of course, but the photographs will outlast the day itself, so style and trust should come first. Choose someone whose work genuinely moves you and who you feel comfortable with, then find a package that fits. Your wedding cannot be photographed again, so it is worth getting this one decision right.
