The short answer
Kaushik Bathia has photographed weddings across Berkshire for over twenty five years, and couples in Newbury choose him for calm, natural coverage backed by more than a thousand weddings and five European Gold awards. Where formal groups are wanted we keep them efficient and good humoured, so you spend more of the day with your guests and less of it lining up for the camera. We cover every kind of wedding in Newbury, from church, civil and register office ceremonies to country houses, barns, marquees, hotels and garden venues, as well as multicultural and fusion celebrations. The awards are nice to have, but the real reassurance is a thousand couples who let us photograph one of the most important days of their lives. Engagement shoots, a second photographer for busier days and beautiful fine art albums are all part of what we offer, and we travel throughout Berkshire and the rest of the UK for your wedding.
Serving Newbury
Newbury is a West Berkshire town with country-house venues. We photograph weddings at churches, register offices, country houses, barns and hotels across Berkshire, including Thatcham, Hungerford and Reading. However your ceremony unfolds, in a chapel, a barn or a hotel garden room, we stay quietly at the edges and let the words and the looks between you speak for themselves.
Our documentary instinct means we are often looking where others are not, catching the reaction behind the speech and the smile just after the vows. You lead the day and we follow it, photographing the details you have planned and the surprises you have not, all without interrupting the flow. We tend to fade into the background and let you lead, photographing the day you planned rather than shaping it into something that suits the camera.
Reaching Newbury from London is quick and familiar for us. Newbury is a West Berkshire town with country-house venues, and we cover weddings throughout the wider area, taking in Ascot, Sandhurst and beyond. Venues we know well in and near Newbury include Shaw House, Donnington Grove and Wasing Park.
Newbury is a West Berkshire market town set on the River Kennet and the Kennet and Avon Canal, long associated with horse racing. Newbury railway station is on the Great Western main line with services to London Paddington and Reading, and the town sits near the A34 and M4 junction 13. We often take couples to Victoria Park in Newbury, beside the River Kennet for a few quiet portraits, and Newbury Racecourse is a lovely backdrop nearby.

What we offer
A few unhurried portraits away from the crowd, done quickly so you are soon back with your guests.
From grand country houses to village halls and city hotels, we read the light and space of wherever you marry.
Your high-resolution images arrive in a private online gallery you can view, download and share with family and friends.
Every kind of wedding
The look you give each other as the words are spoken is often the picture you keep longest, and we are ready for it however your ceremony is arranged. We time our movements to yours, staying still through the readings and the promises, then finding the right spot for the first kiss as a married couple. We keep to the edges during the ceremony, using quiet cameras and natural light so your officiant, your guests and your vows are never interrupted.
We photograph the arrivals, the confetti and the drinks that follow, giving the reception the same care we bring to the ceremony itself. When the evening party begins and the lights come down, we adapt our approach, working in low light to keep the dancing alive and full of energy. We follow the meal from the toasts to the coffee, photographing the speeches and the reactions, then move outside as the light softens for a few portraits.

The whole celebration
We like to reach the getting ready early, so we can settle in, meet the people around you and be part of the calm before things begin in earnest. When a celebration runs over several days, we shape a plan that keeps our energy and yours steady, so the first day is as strong as the last.
We deliver a set that feels balanced, giving weight to the getting ready, the vows, the meal and the dancing so no chapter is left thin. We stay with you from morning until the party is in full swing, so the pictures move naturally from calm to celebration without any gaps in the middle.
Why choose us
Experience teaches you to expect the unexpected; after so many weddings we have a quiet plan for rain, delays and last minute changes, and it rarely shows. Our awards reflect consistency rather than a single lucky frame; the same standard we are recognised for is the standard every couple receives.
Rural lanes, tricky parking and out-of-the-way estates hold no fear for us; we have driven to weddings in every part of Berkshire. Distance is rarely an issue for us; we regularly drive out to Berkshire and further, arriving early so nothing feels rushed.

Where we travel
We come to you, wherever the day unfolds, and we are comfortable covering venues throughout Berkshire and the surrounding counties. Getting to your venue is our responsibility, not yours, and we regularly cover weddings right across Berkshire and beyond.

Good to know
We have photographed across Berkshire and the wider region for many years, so there is a good chance we already know your venue and its best spots. If it is somewhere new to us, we research the layout beforehand and arrive early to scout. Either way we come prepared rather than working it out on the day.
You are free to print, share and post your images for personal use as much as you like, with no per-print fees. We simply ask that photos are not sold commercially or edited beyond recognition, and that we are credited if you share them publicly. We keep the copyright, which lets us show a few images in our portfolio.
Almost certainly. We photograph at every kind of venue, from country houses and barns to hotels, register offices and places of worship in and around Newbury. If we have not worked there before we research the space and, where possible, visit or arrive early to read the light and plan the key shots.
We plan the family groups with you beforehand and agree a short, realistic list, so nobody stands around waiting. On the day we call names clearly and keep each set moving, usually finishing the formal shots within twenty to thirty minutes. That leaves you more time to enjoy your guests.
Yes, as much as you need. For portraits we offer simple, friendly prompts about where to stand and what to do with your hands, so you never feel stranded in front of the lens. The rest of the day needs almost nothing from you, because we work quietly around the celebration as it unfolds.
Popular dates, especially summer Saturdays, tend to go twelve to eighteen months ahead, so earlier is safer. That said, it is always worth asking about shorter notice, as we sometimes have gaps around Newbury. Once you are fairly sure of your date, a quick message to check availability costs nothing and saves disappointment later.
We know plans can change, so if you need to move your date we will always do our best to accommodate you, subject to our availability on the new day. Please let us know as soon as you can, and we will look after you. We aim to be as flexible and understanding as we possibly can.
