The signatures of the witnesses that complete the nikah-nama are captured with care. The imam's khutbah and the dua that follows are moments of stillness we photograph with respect. The exchange of consent and the joining of the two families is captured as it happens.

Where the celebrations are segregated, we cover the men's and ladies' sides with equal care. For many families the mehndi is the ladies' celebration, and a female photographer can cover it with ease. The dholki brings evenings of singing and drumming before the wedding, and we photograph their energy.
