Nobody performs for a camera yet, the lighting is low and coloured, and what comes out is looser than anything the wedding day will give you. Baraat is the opposite in every respect. It is loud, it moves, it happens once, and it wants somebody walking backwards in front, not a long lens waiting patiently by a door.
Then the room goes quiet for a few minutes. Consent is spoken softly, the mahr is settled, a document is signed before witnesses, and repeating any of it afterwards is impossible. So position is taken beforehand and held, our pace set by the imam and not by a schedule. Walima inverts every one of those conditions: a stage, a timetable, a lit event, and finally enough space to work properly. Rukhsati wants nothing from us except distance.
