The short answer
Kaushik Bathia has photographed Muslim weddings across Surrey for over twenty five years, and families in Esher choose him for discreet, respectful coverage backed by more than a thousand weddings and five European Gold awards. We blend candid storytelling of the mehndi with a handful of timeless portraits after the nikah. Whether your celebration in Esher follows Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indian or Arab customs, we cover the whole story with sensitivity, from the signing of the nikah-nama to the walima reception. We are trusted with celebrations of every size, from an intimate home nikah to a walima of several hundred guests. You can add a female photographer, a second photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across Surrey and beyond, so wherever your celebration is held it is within reach.
Serving Esher
Esher is an affluent Surrey town with grand venues. From the smallest prayer room to the largest banqueting hall, the venues of Surrey vary enormously, and we have photographed across Walton-on-Thames, Cobham and Thames Ditton in nearly all of them. A female photographer can stay with the bride throughout the ceremony where the celebration is segregated, so the women's view of the nikah is recorded as fully as the men's.
Through the nikah signing we keep our distance and our lenses long, so you and the qazi are never crowded and the vows carry the weight they are meant to. Where the men's and women's sides are kept apart, our second and female photographers let us cover both at once, so neither celebration goes unrecorded. We arrive early for the mehndi, stay late for the walima and keep pace with every part of the celebration.
Much of our work across Surrey takes us to Esher and the towns beside it. Esher is an affluent Surrey town with grand venues, and we photograph often in nearby Cobham and Leatherhead. Close to Esher, we have worked at venues including Sandown Park Racecourse, Painshill Park and Oatlands Park Hotel.
Esher is an affluent town in the Elmbridge district of Surrey, historically a stagecoach stop on the old London to Portsmouth road, now the A3. Esher railway station on the South West Main Line, about 14 miles from London Waterloo, served by South Western Railway. We often take couples to Claremont Landscape Garden, a National Trust garden with a turf amphitheatre and serpentine lake just outside Esher for a few quiet portraits, and Sandown Park Racecourse, a well known horse racing venue in Esher is a lovely backdrop nearby.

What we offer
We stay through the walima, gathering the entrance, the speeches and the dancing until the evening winds down.
Beautifully bound albums and fine prints designed around your favourite nikah and walima images.
The nikah-nama signed by the couple and their witnesses, photographed with quiet, respectful care.
Every Muslim tradition
Consent given and received, the two families become one, and we capture that joining as it genuinely happens rather than asking anyone to repeat it for the camera. The rukhsati, when the bride leaves with the groom, is the most tender moment, and we photograph it gently. The witnesses whose signatures complete the nikah-nama are part of the story too, and we make sure the people who make the marriage official appear in the pictures that record it.
The henna of the mehndi is intricate and detailed, and we photograph both the design and the laughter around it. Where the celebrations are segregated, we cover the men's and ladies' sides with equal care. Nothing on the day is more tender than the rukhsati, when the bride leaves her parents' home, and we photograph the embraces and the tears from a gentle, respectful distance.

The whole celebration
Tell us which events matter most and we will build the coverage around them. The celebration usually builds gradually, from the quiet of the mangni to the exuberance of the mehndi.
We photograph the ceremony, the portraits and the reception in balance, so each is given its due. We hold the pace of the day loosely, moving between the nikah, the family groups and the reception without ever hurrying you.
Why choose us
A female second photographer for the ladies' side is part of how we work, not an afterthought, so the women's mehndi and celebrations are covered as fully as anything else on the day. Backup cameras, spare lenses and duplicate cards travel with us to every nikah, and your images are copied as the day unfolds, so nothing rests on a single memory card.
A female photographer for the ladies' side travels with us wherever your mehndi and walima are held. Distance is never the deciding factor for us; if your nikah and walima are held anywhere across Surrey, we will be there in good time.

Where we travel
We are London-based and travel across Surrey and the wider region for the nikah and the walima. We cover the whole of Surrey and travel well beyond it, so wherever your celebration sits across Walton-on-Thames, Cobham and Thames Ditton, distance never comes between us and your day.

Good to know
Yes. We keep couple portraits tasteful and within your comfort, guiding posture and placement rather than asking for anything that would feel wrong for you. If you would rather not have close or intimate poses at all, that is completely fine, and we will focus on natural, dignified images of the two of you that your families will be proud to display.
The baraat is one of the high-energy moments of the day, so we position ourselves to catch both the groom's arrival and the family waiting to receive him. We work amid the dhol, the flowers and the crowd without slowing anyone down, and we make sure the meeting of the two sides and the garlanding are all recorded as they happen.
We do. As well as your edited digital gallery, we design a hand-finished, fine-art album by hand, gathering the whole story of your celebration, from the mehndi to the walima, into something beautiful and lasting that you can pass down the generations.
Of course. Some of the most moving weddings we photograph are the smallest. Whether your nikah in Esher is a quiet gathering at home or part of a large celebration, we adapt our coverage to suit, treating an intimate day with the very same care.
Yes. Bangladeshi weddings often run across a gaye holud, the akd or nikah, and a reception, and we are happy to cover one function or all of them. We plan the coverage so the turmeric ceremony, the feeding rituals and the bride and groom's entrances are all recorded, and we keep the same photographer across your events for a consistent look.
Yes. Even at a mixed walima, some couples like the extra coverage a pairing gives, with one photographer on the stage and candid moments and the other free to work the room. If parts of your evening become more separated for prayer or for family preference, having both a male and female photographer on hand keeps every area covered.
We do, and we stay to the end. At a walima in Esher we capture the whole evening, from the couple's grand entrance and the speeches to the family gatherings and the dancing, right down to the very last guest on the floor.
