What follows carries a separate character altogether: a walima runs nearer to banquet than to rite, and it needs light brought in, since the room will otherwise be lit for eating rather than for faces. Rukhsati happens outdoors, usually in failing light, and departures do not come round twice, so our position outside gets taken long before anyone moves.
