The short answer
An award winning, London based Muslim wedding photographer, Kaushik Bathia has spent more than twenty five years photographing nikah and walima celebrations in Borehamwood and right across Hertfordshire. We respect gender-segregated celebrations and plan our coverage of the men's and ladies' sides with care. From the colour of the mehndi to the dignity of the nikah, we photograph every Muslim tradition in and around Borehamwood discreetly and with respect for your customs. We understand how much the nikah means, and we photograph the mahr and the dua with the care they deserve. A second photographer, a female photographer for segregated events and hand finished fine art albums are all available, and we travel across Hertfordshire and the wider UK so distance is never a problem.
Serving Borehamwood
Borehamwood is home to the film studios, with a strong Jewish and Asian community. Marquees, banqueting halls, hotels and mosques across Hertfordshire each have their own light and their own challenges, and years in the venues of Elstree, Radlett and Bushey have taught us to read them quickly. For many families the qazi conducts the ceremony, and we photograph it exactly as you keep it.
A female photographer is available for the ladies' side, so the women's mehndi and celebrations are fully covered. Our style is unobtrusive at the masjid, so the nikah feels like yours and never a photoshoot. We blend candid storytelling of the mehndi with a handful of timeless portraits after the nikah.
Muslim couples across Hertfordshire bring us to their celebrations, and Borehamwood is a place we return to happily. Borehamwood is home to the film studios, with a strong Jewish and Asian community, and we also photograph regularly in Potters Bar and Berkhamsted. We are at home at Borehamwood-area venues such as The Manor Elstree and DoubleTree by Hilton London Elstree.
Borehamwood is closely tied to the British film industry through Elstree Studios and has a strong Jewish and Asian community. Elstree and Borehamwood station is on the Thameslink line to London and St Albans, with the A1 close by. When there is time for couple portraits, Aldenham Country Park, with its reservoir and open parkland is a favourite, and Elstree Studios, the long established film and television studios makes a memorable setting.

What we offer
We share a small preview soon after the wedding, with your full gallery and album to follow.
We stay through the walima, gathering the entrance, the speeches and the dancing until the evening winds down.
From the ijab-e-qubool and the mahr to the signing of the nikah-nama, every moment of the nikah understood and captured.
Every Muslim tradition
We anticipate the reading of the vows and the signing of the contract, so nothing is missed. We photograph the signing of the nikah-nama by the couple and their witnesses with quiet attention. Some of the most moving frames of a nikah are the smallest, a father's hand on a shoulder or a whispered word before the ijab-e-qubool, and we look for every one of them.
The mangni, the engagement that begins the journey, is one we are glad to cover when families ask. The mehndi night is full of colour, music and dancing, and often holds the warmest moments of all. We are glad to cover a single event or the whole multi-day celebration.

The whole celebration
Getting ready is a quiet, tender window, and we photograph it gently so the calm before the celebration is not lost. A multi-day Muslim wedding can run across three or four days, and we plan our coverage around all of them.
The best galleries are spread evenly across the day, not saved for the nikah alone. We catch the headline moments and the small ones in the gaps between, the glances and the laughter that get overlooked.
Why choose us
We are as comfortable with a single-day nikah as with a celebration running across a long weekend of mehndi, dholki, baraat and walima, and we plan our coverage around whichever you keep. We have photographed Muslim weddings, from the mehndi to the rukhsati, across the country for more than two decades.
Should your venues sit further afield, we will come; much of our work takes us right across Elstree, Radlett and Bushey and out into the wider region beyond Hertfordshire. We cover the whole of the UK for Muslim weddings, so distance never stands between us and your nikah.

Where we travel
Distance is never a problem; travelling to your mosque and banqueting hall is simply part of how we work. A female photographer for the ladies' side travels with us to every venue, wherever across Elstree, Radlett and Bushey your mehndi and walima are held.

Good to know
Yes. We have covered Arab weddings and understand how the zaffe procession, the couple's grand entrance and the ballroom celebration each set a different tone. We plan lighting and positions for the entrance so the drummers and the couple are both sharp, and we adapt to whether your evening is mixed or separated for the men and women.
We travel throughout Hertfordshire and across the UK, and Borehamwood is well within our reach. Our studio is in Northwood, north west London, but a large share of our work takes us to mosques, banqueting halls and marquees far beyond it. Give us the venue postcodes and we will confirm travel arrangements and whether an overnight stay is sensible for an early start.
Yes. The sanchaq, where the groom's family bring clothes, jewellery and sweets to the bride, is a lovely event to document because it is so personal. We photograph the trays and gifts being presented, the reactions, and the warmth between the two families, and we can treat it as a standalone booking or fold it into your wider coverage.
Yes. Banqueting halls often have dim or heavily coloured lighting, so we bring our own lights and know how to use them without turning your reception into a photo studio. We aim for images that still feel like the room you were in, with the stage, the decor and the guests looking natural rather than washed out by flash.
We treat the rukhsati with real care, stepping back and using a longer lens so the bride's farewell to her parents is never interrupted by a camera in her face. These are among the most moving frames of any wedding, and they deserve honesty rather than direction. We simply stay present, quiet and ready, and let the emotion speak for itself.
If your day is segregated, yes, our female photographer remains with the women, covering the bridal preparations and the ladies' celebration where male photographers are not welcome. She works within your comfort boundaries, and we agree beforehand exactly which spaces she will and will not enter. This way the women's side is fully photographed while everyone's privacy is respected.
Yes. Dholki gatherings, with their drumming, singing and family teasing, capture a side of the celebration that the formal events do not, and we love documenting them. They are usually relaxed and held at home, so we keep our footprint small and simply follow the energy of the room, catching the laughter between aunties and cousins as it happens.
