A female photographer can cover the ladies' side of the nikah, so the women's moments are not lost. We are ready for the agreeing of the mahr, the gift from the groom to the bride. Consent given and received, the two families become one, and we capture that joining as it genuinely happens rather than asking anyone to repeat it for the camera.

The walima, thrown by the groom's family to announce the marriage, is the grand finale, and we cover it from the couple's entrance to the last table clearing the floor. The dholki nights, sometimes several of them, build the excitement in the days before the wedding, and we photograph their growing energy as more of the family gathers. Where the men's and women's sides are held separately, we cover both with equal care, a female photographer with the ladies and a male photographer with the men.
