Northfields grew from Victorian market gardens into an Edwardian residential suburb. Its Underground station was rebuilt in 1932 by architect Charles Holden in a modernist brick-and-glass style and was Grade II listed in 1994. Along Northfield Avenue, a former cinema built in 1932 in an unusual Spanish style is Grade II* listed and has been the Ealing Christian Centre since 1994.
