Langar after the ceremony is one of our favourite things to photograph, the shared meal, the rows of guests and the sewadars serving everyone without distinction. Much of a Sikh wedding story starts at home, and we are there for the maiyan, the mehndi and the quiet moments in between. An elder whispering a blessing over the choora can matter more than any staged portrait, so we watch for those seconds and keep them.
Dhol at the reception door changes the whole room's energy, and we shoot low and wide there, catching the drummers and the crowd rather than an isolated portrait of the couple. After the fourth laav the pace changes completely, from stillness to celebration in a matter of seconds, and being ready for that shift is half of covering a Sikh wedding day well.
