We work quietly through the sacred parts and lift the energy for the baraat, reading each moment as it comes rather than pulling you out of it for set-up shots. We photograph with warmth and respect, mindful of the meaning behind each ritual across every faith. On the dance floor we shoot fast and close, catching the bhangra, the dhol and the uncles who never sit down, so the party reads as alive as it felt.

For portraits away from the celebration, Haigh Woodland Park, 250 acres of park and woodland around Haigh Hall works beautifully, and Haigh Hall, a Grade II listed former seat of the Earls of Balcarres adds a real sense of place.

The blessings of the elders close many ceremonies, and we capture them with warmth. The most sacred parts of the day are captured from a respectful distance with a quiet long lens. For Gujarati families we know the hastamelap and the four mangal pheras and photograph each as you keep it.

A sangeet belongs to the family, all rehearsed dances and gentle teasing, and we keep pace with its energy late into the night. For Muslim families the walima is a generous celebration in its own right, and we cover it as fully as the nikah that precedes it. The dhol and dancing of the baraat are pure joy, and we capture every bit of the energy.
