The short answer

Your Asian wedding photographer in Rochdale, at a glance

Kaushik Bathia has photographed Asian weddings across Greater Manchester for over twenty five years, and couples in Rochdale choose him for calm, knowledgeable coverage of every tradition, backed by five European Gold awards. For the vidaai we hold back and let the emotion be what it is, photographing the goodbyes gently rather than crowding a moment that belongs to the family. Whether your wedding in Rochdale is Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Muslim, Tamil or a fusion of traditions, we know the order of each faith's rituals and cover the whole celebration. Twenty-five years in, we still prepare for each wedding as though it were our first, learning your family's particular customs before we lift a camera. You can add a second photographer, a female photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across Greater Manchester and beyond, so wherever your celebration is held it is within reach.

Serving Rochdale

Photographing Asian weddings in Rochdale

Rochdale is a Pennine town with a diverse community. Across Heywood, Middleton and Milnrow and the wider reaches of Greater Manchester, we cover ceremonies in mandaps, marquees and grand reception suites with the same careful eye. The garland exchange, when the couple meet with the jaimala, is a moment of pure joy we love to photograph.

The food, the decor and the small details matter to us, so between the big set pieces we quietly gather the textures that make your day yours. Our approach is relaxed and documentary, so you can be present in your own wedding. We plan our movements so the couple never feels managed, staying near enough to catch everything and far enough to let the day belong to you.

We are often in Rochdale for Asian weddings, and from London the area, taking in Heywood, Middleton and Milnrow, is an easy journey. Rochdale is a Pennine town with a diverse community. We also photograph in nearby Bury and Stockport. In and around Rochdale, we have photographed at venues such as Rochdale Royale and Rochdale Town Hall.

Rochdale is a Pennine town in Greater Manchester known as the birthplace of the Co-operative movement. Rochdale has a railway station and a Metrolink tram interchange, with the M62 passing nearby. For portraits away from the celebration, Broadfield Park, a hillside park overlooking the town centre and town hall works beautifully, and Rochdale Town Hall, a celebrated Gothic Revival building adds a real sense of place.

Every tradition

Each Custom Photographed as You Intend It

The vows at a nikah end in the joyful declaration that the couple are married, and the room's relief and delight are ours to keep. We are ready for the giving of the sindoor and the tying of the mangalsutra at a Hindu ceremony. At the gurdwara, the couple's walk around the Guru Granth Sahib during each laav is captured with reverence.

When the reception loosens and the dance floor takes over, the bhangra runs late and joyful, and we stay for every last turn under the lights. A sangeet belongs to the family, all rehearsed dances and gentle teasing, and we keep pace with its energy late into the night. The dhol player sets the pulse of the baraat, and we work close to the drum and the dancers so the picture carries the sound within it.

The whole celebration

From the first ritual to the final dance

When the henna artist works late into the evening, we sit with the patience of it, photographing the detail on your hands and the faces of everyone waiting their turn. The sangeet brings an evening of rehearsed dances and late-night music before the wedding day itself.

We deliver a full day evenly, from the first ritual to the last song, so your album carries the real shape of the celebration rather than only its brightest half-hour. We photograph the ceremony, the portraits and the reception in balance, so each is given its due.

Why choose us

One studio for every tradition in Rochdale

Knowing the running order of a Sikh Anand Karaj, a Gujarati hastamelap or a Tamil muhurtham means we are never caught out by a sudden change of pace. You are trusting your one wedding day to us, and we honour that with the steadiness of twenty-five years and a genuine understanding of Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Muslim and Tamil custom.

We are based in London and think nothing of the drive across Greater Manchester, so travelling to your venues is simply part of how we work. A multi-day wedding spread across several venues asks for careful planning, and plotting the movement between them is something we do as a matter of course.

Wedding photography in Rochdale, frequently asked questions

Every time. To each Rochdale wedding we bring backup cameras, lenses and memory cards, and we back up your images as the day goes on, keeping your photographs safe. With twenty-five years and over a thousand weddings behind us, being ready for anything comes naturally.

Not long after your day in Rochdale, we send a small preview, followed by your full edited gallery. We then create a hand-finished album that holds the whole story of your celebration for you to keep.

Absolutely. We regularly cover the mehndi, the sangeet, the haldi, the ceremony and the reception across two or three days in Rochdale, and we bring additional photographers for the largest celebrations so that no event, from the baraat to the last dance, is ever missed.

Yes. We regularly work in the larger banqueting halls that host Asian weddings, and we are happy to cover an event at a venue in Rochdale. We like to know the room in advance where possible, so we can plan for the lighting and the scale of the day.

Yes. We photograph the nikah and walima with care for the customs of the day, working discreetly during the signing of the contract and the exchange of vows. Where the celebration is segregated, we can arrange a female photographer so guests feel entirely comfortable throughout.

We are. We understand the significance of the muhurtham timing and the tying of the thali, along with the surrounding customs that make a Tamil ceremony distinct. This familiarity means we are ready at the right moment, so the images reflect the true weight of each ritual.

We do, and we know these matter enormously to elder relatives. We plan a group list with you beforehand so we can gather everyone efficiently, usually after the ceremony, without keeping guests waiting. The rest of the day we spend recording things as they naturally unfold.
