We arrive early and quietly test the light around the mandap, so once the ceremony begins we are settled, positioned and ready rather than scrambling for angles. Around the mandap we keep our footprint small, using longer lenses so we can frame the pheras closely without ever stepping between you, the priest and the sacred fire.

As you take the saptapadi, we keep close but out of the way, photographing the seven promises and the steadiness in your steps as your families watch from either side. As the varmala is exchanged, we catch the height, the laughter and the settling of the garlands, so the lightness of the moment is preserved alongside its meaning.

The mehndi and sangeet nights are full of colour, music and dancing, and we photograph the garba and raas with the same energy the evening brings to the floor. During the grah shanti and welcome pujas, we work quietly, photographing the small family rituals that begin the celebrations long before the main ceremony gets under way. The reception has its own rhythm, and we photograph the entrance, the speeches, the toasts and the dancing, staying alert to the moments between the planned parts of the evening.
