Nervousness before the acceptance is real and universal, and we photograph it honestly. The slight tremble, the glance to a parent, the deep breath, none of it needs improving upon.
Moving at its own gentle pace, the mehndi evening gives us the yellow and green of the outfits, the flower jewellery and the anticipation building through the songs. As the brothers walk the bride to the car during the rukhsati, we photograph one of the most emotional moments of the whole celebration. Flower jewellery, yellow and green outfits and decorated thaals give the mehndi a visual identity nothing else in the week has, and we shoot for that colour deliberately.
