Excellent photography services before and during our wedding. Really enjoyed him being our photographer and he did a great job with the pictures. Working with him on the albums post wedding has been fantastic, he takes time to understand our ideas and portrays them in his work. Brilliant personality and very professional.

…Kaushik is incredibly talented, artistic, and truly gifted with a photographer’s vision. He knows exactly what he wants each frame to look like and how to get the best out of his subjects. Honestly, there were moments during the shoot when I’d wonder, “What is he making me do?” – but when I saw the final shots, I was blown away. Every image looked beautiful, intentional, and natural.

Amrita A., Google review, 2025

Kaushik is an excellent professional photographer. He is friendly and pleasant. Our visit was an enjoyable experience. His service is prompt and efficient. As a Northwood resident it makes me happy to be able to use local businesses. I highly recommend him.

Edmonton, Tottenham and Wood Green

Walima halls in the east of the area

The east of North London has the biggest rooms for a walima. Upper Edmonton has a large ballroom venue, and Haringey's approved list includes banqueting suites on Wood Green High Road, on Western Road near Alexandra Park and near Bruce Grove station in Tottenham. On the Barnet side, a hall in Colindale lists Muslim weddings among those it hosts, which suits families living nearer Hendon.

A walima in a big hall is about the families and guests as much as the couple. Kaushik photographs the stage, the meal, elders greeting the couple and the family groups, and keeps the camera away from anyone who would rather not be photographed. Tell us in advance if any guests or parts of the room should not appear, and the coverage follows that.

For room layouts and parking, read our guides to halls in Upper Edmonton and Wood Green, which set out what to ask before you book.

The nikah

A nikah at home in Southgate or at your local mosque

You can hold the nikah at home, in a mosque or at the hall on the day of the walima. A home nikah in Southgate, Palmers Green or Edmonton is small and personal: the imam, the families, the signing of the contract and the first photographs as a married couple, which can be taken in a living room or garden. Light from a window and a cleared corner of the room are all that is needed.

In a mosque, the mosque's own rules come first. Tell us your mosque and any photography guidance it gives, and Kaushik plans around it, from shoes and head covering to where he may stand. The camera stays quiet during the khutbah and the dua, and the signing is photographed only where the imam and the families are comfortable with it.

Prayer and modesty

Fitting the day around salah and your family's wishes

A wedding day will usually cross at least one prayer time, and in winter the afternoon prayers fall close together. Kaushik pauses during salah and plans portraits so they do not clash with it. Share your timings, or the mosque timetable you follow, and the running order is built around them.

Modest coverage means what your family decides it means. Some couples want no photographs of certain relatives, some want only fully covered portraits, and some want the dancing at the mehndi left out of the gallery. Tell us beforehand, and the photographs follow your wishes.

Mehndi and dholki

Mehndi nights at home in Enfield and Barnet, or in a hall

The mehndi or dholki is the loudest night of the week: henna, songs with the dholki drum, family performances and food. It may be held at home in Enfield or Barnet, or in a hall; a large events site in Edgware lists mehndi nights among its bookings, which is handy for families on the Mill Hill side.

Henna close-ups photograph best in daylight or under a warm lamp, so plan them early in the evening before the music starts. Kaushik then moves to the dholki, the dancing and the guests. Each evening is its own part of the package, with its own times, and the travel for it is set out in writing before you book.

Register office and portraits

Civil registration, and portraits in Pymmes Park or Broomfield Park

If you also want a civil marriage, you can hold it at a register office before or after the nikah. Enfield's is in the Admiral's Suite at 1 Gentleman's Row, Haringey's at George Meehan House in Wood Green, Barnet's at Hendon Town Hall, and Islington's at the town hall on Upper Street, which has seven rooms for 2 to 85 guests.

For portraits, Pymmes Park in Upper Edmonton has a walled garden with Grade II listed walls and an ornamental pond, and Broomfield Park in Palmers Green has 18th-century ponds and a conservatory. Both are public parks, so a quieter weekday hour gives more privacy. Town pages for Edmonton, Enfield, Tottenham, Wood Green, Hendon and Islington have more detail, and our Muslim wedding photography page covers the whole celebration.

Good to know

Muslim weddings in North London: questions answered

Yes. A home nikah and a hall walima on different days are two parts of one package, each with its own times. Edmonton is about 15 miles from Northwood, and travel for each day is quoted in writing before you book. Tell us the guest numbers so the coverage suits each event.

Kaushik can photograph inside a mosque where its guidance allows. Tell us the mosque and what it permits, and the coverage keeps to those rules, including where to stand and when not to photograph. Shoes come off and the camera stays quiet during prayers.

Yes. Tell us before the day which guests or parts of the room should not be photographed, and Kaushik works around them. You can also ask for particular moments, such as dancing at the mehndi, to be left out of the photographs you receive.

Both are in the London Borough of Enfield, whose register office is at 1 Gentleman's Row in Enfield Town. Ceremonies take place in the Admiral's Suite, in a Georgian building with a rear courtyard and the New River at the front. Enfield's Council Chamber at the Civic Centre on Silver Street is also approved, for up to 122 guests.

Yes. It is a public park in Upper Edmonton, open since 1906, with a Victorian walled garden, an ornamental pond and a lake. It makes a good portrait stop before a walima in the east of the area. Choose a time with fewer people about if you would like a quieter, more private setting.

A North London Muslim wedding is photographed from £750. Packages are built around your events, whether that is a home nikah only or a mehndi, nikah and walima across several days. A second photographer and a hand-finished album are optional, and travel from Northwood appears in your written quote.
