Ask the church first
Each church sets its own photography guidance for services. Ask your vicar or priest, and Kaushik works within whatever they allow.
Christenings, baptisms, naming ceremonies and blessings, photographed quietly at your North London church or home, with the family groups afterwards and the meal that follows.
The short answer
Yes. Kaushik Bathia covers christenings, baptisms, naming ceremonies and first communions across North London, about 8 to 15 miles from Northwood, from Mill Hill and Hendon to Southgate and Enfield. The ceremony is photographed quietly, within whatever guidance your church gives, and the family groups follow. Ask your vicar or priest about photography during the service. Travel is set out in your written quote before you book.
Kaushik took graduation photos for my family and I. His enthusiasm and great photography skills made the photos turn out beautifully as he really understood what we wanted and captured priceless moments for us. Highly recommend his services, you won't be disappointed!
Kaushik bhai did the photography for my baby shower and did a phenomenal job! Can't wait to book him for additional events in the future! Thanks for everything!
I went into the photoshoot with reservations, as I wasn’t sure how well my youngest child (3 years) would be in a photoshoot situation. As soon as walking into the shoot and seeing how Kaushik interacted with the little ones, I was immediately put at ease. He amazingly kept my child smiling and laughing for an hour, where I can’t seem to manage to do for 30 seconds!
Before the day
Churches each decide how photography works during a service. Some allow pictures throughout, others only before and after, and some ask the photographer to stay in one place, such as the back or the side aisle. Ask your vicar or priest when you book the christening, and pass the answer on when you get in touch; Kaushik works within whatever they allow.
It also helps to know whether the christening is a short service of its own or part of the main Sunday service. A christening within Sunday worship means a full congregation and less room to move, so the plan leans on a fixed position and the pictures before and after.
Agree the list of family photographs in advance: parents and baby, godparents, each set of grandparents, the wider family. Written down and shared with one relative who knows everyone, it lets the groups after the service move quickly so nobody waits long in the church porch.

North London churches
In Hampstead Garden Suburb, St Jude-on-the-Hill and the Free Church stand on Central Square, both by Sir Edwin Lutyens, among more than 740 Grade II listed buildings. The calm, symmetrical square gives an elegant setting for the family group once everyone is outside.
In Hampstead, St John-at-Hampstead stands at the west end of Church Row, a tree-lined street of largely listed early 18th-century houses, which makes a lovely backdrop for a portrait of the parents and baby afterwards. In Mill Hill, William Wilberforce was patron of the first church, St Paul's. In Hendon, St Mary's churchyard sits next to Sunny Hill Park, a 22-hectare park on high ground with wide views north and west.
Temple Fortune has the Catholic Church of St Edward the Confessor and St Mary and Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church. In Cockfosters, Christ Church on Cockfosters Road was founded in 1839. Whichever church is yours, tell us its name when you enquire, and the plan starts from its own guidance.
Other traditions
Not every family marks the occasion in church. Non-religious naming ceremonies can take place at home or at a hired venue, and first communions are covered too, with the day itself and portraits of the child afterwards. The approach is the same: quiet during the ceremony, organised for the groups.
A Hindu naming ceremony at home or in a temple, or an aqiqah celebration with a shared meal, can be photographed in the same quiet way. Tell us the order of the ritual, who leads it and any guidance from your place of worship, and the coverage is planned around it.
North London is home to a wide mix of communities: Southgate has had a prominent Jewish community since the early 20th century and is home to Greek, Greek Cypriot, Japanese and Turkish families, while Palmers Green has the largest population of Greek Cypriots outside Cyprus. If your baptism follows an Orthodox order of service, tell us what happens when, so the important moments are not missed.

Afterwards
The group photographs come straight after the service, organised quickly so nobody waits. A green nearby helps when the church is busy: Pond Square in Highgate is a registered village green, Winchmore Hill's conservation area centres on The Green, and Southgate Green keeps its Georgian buildings round the old village green. In Hendon, the view from Sunny Hill Park suits a big group.
Then the family meal. Whether it is lunch at home, a table on Upper Street in Islington, a restaurant round Tally Ho Corner in North Finchley or a café on Mill Hill Broadway, the pictures here are the in-between ones: the baby passed from lap to lap, the godparents' toast, grandparents meeting cousins. If the meal is at a restaurant, ask them in advance whether photography in the room is fine.
Coverage can be the ceremony alone, or the ceremony and the gathering afterwards. The length you choose shapes the price, so mention the timings of both when you get in touch.
Distance and alternatives
Hendon is about 8.2 miles from Northwood, Temple Fortune and Golders Green about 9.3, Hampstead about 10.5, Cockfosters about 11.8, Southgate about 12.3 and Enfield about 14.6. Kaushik comes to your church and your gathering, and travel from Northwood is quoted up front and set out in writing before you book.
If you would rather not have a photographer at the service, a family portrait at the Northwood studio in the christening outfit is a calm alternative, at the baby's pace with time for feeds and cuddles.
