Rearranging a gurdwara is not on offer. Its seating was laid out for worship, the sangat sits low, elevation does not exist, and flash would be an insult. A photographer who resents those terms produces sullen pictures, so we plan around the room precisely as we find it. Pictures from there come slowly, on a long lens, or they do not come at all.
The evening is a different commission altogether. A hired room in or near Tring restores power sockets, height, rigging, and a free hand with colour.
