Weybridge is an affluent Surrey town with riverside venues. We are comfortable in every setting in Walton-on-Thames, Woking and Esher, from a busy gurdwara to an intimate family maiyan. We know the local gurdwaras and their early-morning timings well, and plan the day around them.

We anticipate each part of the Anand Karaj, so the milni, the four laavan and the ardaas are never missed. We photograph the sacred and the joyful with equal care, the Anand Karaj as faithfully as the bhangra. We arrive early for the gurdwara start, stay through the doli and keep pace with the reception.

Before the ceremony the groom's sehra is tied, and we photograph the sehra bandi with a gentle eye. As the ragis sing each laav, the couple walk slowly around the Guru Granth Sahib, and we photograph it quietly from the side. The exchange of garlands and the joy of the sangat around the couple are moments we love to photograph.

The maiyan, when turmeric is applied, is full of colour and play, and often holds the warmest moments. We capture the groom's arrival for the milni, surrounded by dancing family and the beat of the dhol. The reception is the joyful finale, with speeches, the first dance, bhangra and giddha.
