Leaning in over the register, the couple and the imam are caught in that concentrated moment when the marriage is written down.
At the walima the speeches and the shared meal take their place, and we photograph the reactions down the tables as much as the words spoken. Trays of mithai and dates move round the room after the good news, and we photograph the sharing, because the sweetness is part of the story.
