A nikah is mostly speech, which is why it ends so quickly. Witnesses. An imam. An offer, then its acceptance. A signature, and the tension leaves the room. During recitation the cameras rest; for the dua they come up again, a decision taken once beforehand and then simply kept. Nobody should need to look across at us and gesture. The paperwork is a photograph too, and it wants a position settled before any pen appears, since nobody signs twice.

Walima is the opposite assignment. An evening, a hired hall, a stage, plus a guest list of some length; the restraint of the morning no longer applies and we can put light exactly where we want it. Rukhsati sits between the two, the emotional high point, and it takes place in a doorway with whatever light doorways happen to give. We would sooner be outside that door looking in than inside looking out.

Yes. One day or two, either works. Tell us how big the gap is. Both inside a single day mostly costs travel and a change of lighting approach; split across weeks it is simply two shorter bookings.

How do you photograph inside a mosque or masjid?+

Dress and footwear sorted before we walk in, nothing of ours switched on, and a standing position cleared in advance with whoever minds the room. We stay back with long glass unless invited forward. Prayer is not a photograph.

Can you work with our videographer at the ceremony?+

Yes, and a conversation first improves the result. Two crews in a small room either share sightlines or ruin one another's frames; a call beforehand decides who owns which side, and where a tripod may legitimately stand.

What if you have never worked at our venue before?+

It makes no difference to the outcome. We get there early, walk the rooms, work out how light behaves in them at your hour, and agree our standing positions with the staff on site.
