The short answer

Your Asian wedding photographer in South Ruislip, at a glance

Kaushik Bathia is an award winning Asian wedding photographer based in London, photographing Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Muslim and Tamil weddings in South Ruislip and throughout Greater London for over twenty five years and more than a thousand celebrations. The food, the decor and the small details matter to us, so between the big set pieces we quietly gather the textures that make your day yours. From the mehndi and sangeet to the baraat, the ceremony and the reception, we photograph every part of an Asian wedding in and around South Ruislip with knowledge and care. Over a thousand celebrations have taught us how a darbar hall handles light at eleven in the morning, and how a marquee handles it at nine at night. You can add a second photographer, and we are glad to travel across Greater London and beyond, so wherever your celebration is held it is within reach.

RAF Northolt sits close to South Ruislip and gives the area its character, though the wedding work happens at McGovern Park and Venue 5. Both handle the sizes Asian weddings here reach, whether the week runs to a Gujarati garba, a mehndi and nikah, or a reception after a morning anand karaj. Ruislip Woods covers the portrait hour with genuine ancient woodland. With the A40 alongside, guests from west London arrive without a long journey. South Ruislip station is served by the Central line and by Chiltern Railways to Marylebone.

Every Ritual, Every Day, Photographed Across South Ruislip

South Ruislip is a Hillingdon suburb in north-west London. Families throughout Ruislip Manor, Ickenham bring us into their gurdwaras, mosques and banqueting halls, and we treat each setting with the respect it is due. Once the nikah is done and the couple are declared married, a wave of relief crosses the room, and that reaction is often the finest picture of the ceremony.

Silence is a tool, and during kanyadaan we use it, working without a word so a father can give his daughter away without a photographer in his ear. We bring a long lens and a light touch, so the most sacred parts of the day are captured from a respectful distance. Our briefing before the day covers the running order, the names of the key elders and which uncle will insist on carrying the groom, so we are never guessing.

Much of our year is spent out across Greater London, and South Ruislip is a Hillingdon suburb in north-west London, a place we return to often for Hindu, Sikh and Muslim celebrations. Nearby Southwark and Tower Hamlets are on our patch as well. Around South Ruislip we regularly photograph at Venue 5 and McGovern Park, among others.

A residential Hillingdon suburb in north-west London near the A40 and RAF Northolt. Served by South Ruislip station on the Central line and by Chiltern Railways to Marylebone. When there is time for couple portraits, Ruislip Woods National Nature Reserve, ancient woodland a short distance to the north is a favourite, and RAF Northolt, the historic Royal Air Force station situated close to the town makes a memorable setting.

What we offer

What is included in your South Ruislip Asian wedding coverage

01

Heirloom Albums

Beautifully bound albums and fine prints, designed around your favourite images.

02

Documentary Approach

We photograph the day as it truly unfolds, staying out of the way so the moments belong to you.

03

Multi-Day Coverage

From the mehndi through to the final reception, we photograph every day of your celebration with the same care and attention.

Every tradition

From the mandap to the gurdwara and the nikah

At the gurdwara, the couple's walk around the Guru Granth Sahib during each laav is captured with reverence. As the sindoor is applied and the mangalsutra tied, a Hindu marriage is complete, and we are ready for both of those small, fast gestures. For Gujarati families we know the hastamelap and the four mangal pheras and photograph each as you keep it.

A pithi is turmeric, water and cousins with no restraint whatsoever, so we protect the kit accordingly while staying close enough for it to actually look messy. The sangeet is an evening of music and rehearsed dance, and we capture all of its energy. From the first event to the last, we tell the full story of the celebration.

The whole celebration

Every event, across every day

Grandparents are usually ready an hour before anyone else and sit waiting, and those quiet portraits at the start are among the most valuable we take all day. A garba fills the room with movement, and we photograph the sway of it without asking anyone to pause, letting the colour and the circles of dancing lead the frame.

Between the ceremony and the reception there is often a great deal of waiting, and we use that time well, gathering portraits and quiet family moments while the room resets. We keep the day flowing, moving smoothly between the ceremony, the family photos and the reception.
