Capturing Asian weddings in South Ruislip

South Ruislip is a Hillingdon suburb in north-west London. We are used to multi-venue days throughout Greater London, moving smoothly between Ruislip Manor, Ickenham. Wherever your events are held across Greater London, we plan the timings and travel with care.

We photograph the small moments as carefully as the grand ones, the glances as well as the rituals. We are a reassuring, familiar presence, so everyone relaxes and the day flows naturally. We are calm and unhurried, gathering the whole story without ever getting in the way.

We know South Ruislip, a Hillingdon suburb in north-west London, and the surrounding part of Greater London well, having photographed Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati and Tamil weddings throughout Ruislip Manor, Ickenham. We are often in nearby Southwark and Tower Hamlets too. Around South Ruislip we regularly photograph at Venue 5 and McGovern Park, among others.

A residential Hillingdon suburb in north-west London near the A40 and RAF Northolt. Served by South Ruislip station on the Central line and by Chiltern Railways to Marylebone. When there is time for couple portraits, Ruislip Woods National Nature Reserve, ancient woodland a short distance to the north is a favourite, and RAF Northolt, the historic Royal Air Force station situated close to the town makes a memorable setting.

Every tradition

From the mandap to the gurdwara and the nikah

The blessings of the elders close many ceremonies, and we capture them with warmth. The muhurat and muhurtham, the auspicious hours, set the pace of the ceremony, and we plan around them. We keep our distance during the most solemn moments and step in only for the joyful ones.

We photograph the bridal and groom's preparations with a gentle, unobtrusive eye. We capture the groom's arrival in procession, on a horse, in a car or on foot, surrounded by dancing family. The mehndi or henna night is intimate and detailed, and we photograph both the henna and the laughter around it.

The whole celebration

Every event, across every day

The henna of the mehndi and the turmeric of the haldi are rich with colour, and we make the most of it. Many families hold an engagement long before the wedding, and a mehndi or sangeet the night before.

From the morning preparations to the final dance, we give every part of the day the same care. For a Muslim wedding the nikah and the walima may fall on the same day or separate ones, and we cover both.
