Serving Westminster

Documenting Sikh weddings in Westminster

Westminster is the central London borough at the heart of the capital. Your celebration in Camden, Kensington and Chelsea is in experienced hands, from the milni to the doli. Whether your Anand Karaj is in Westminster itself or elsewhere across Greater London, we plan the day around your venues.

We bring a long lens and a light touch, so the four laavan are captured from the sides of the gurdwara at a respectful distance. We are a reassuring, familiar presence in the gurdwara, so the sangat relax and the day flows naturally. We balance documentary coverage with a few quiet portraits, so your album holds both the reverence of the darbar sahib and the energy of the bhangra.

Westminster is the central London borough at the heart of the capital, and we love photographing Sikh weddings here and across London and the surrounding area. We regularly cover nearby Southall and Wembley as well. We are at home at Westminster-area venues such as One Great George Street, One Whitehall Place and Raffles London at The OWO.

The central London borough at the heart of the capital, home to national government and world-famous royal buildings. Served by Westminster Underground station on the Jubilee, District and Circle lines. For pre-wedding and couple portraits, we love spots such as St James's Park, a royal park with a lake, pelicans and views to Buckingham Palace, with The Palace of Westminster and Big Ben beside the River Thames close by for a striking backdrop.

What we offer

Sikh wedding coverage in Westminster

01

The Langar

The vegetarian langar shared by the whole sangat after the Anand Karaj, photographed with warmth.

02

The Doli

The bride's departure from her family home, the most emotional moment of the day, photographed with great sensitivity.

03

Pre-Wedding Events

The maiyan, mehndi and jaggo night, where the warmest, most natural moments of a Sikh wedding often happen.

Every tradition

Sacred moments, captured with respect

We keep our distance during the laavan and the prayers, and step in only for the joyful greetings. The hukamnama, the reading taken after the laavan, closes the ceremony, and we capture it with respect. The ardaas and the hukamnama that frame the ceremony are moments of stillness we capture with care.

We capture the lively milni as the two families meet, with the garlands, the dhol and the embraces. The jaggo night is an evening of music, dancing and pots lit with candles, and we capture all of its energy. We photograph the sehra bandi, when the groom's turban and sehra are tied, with all its ceremony.

The whole celebration

Every ritual, across every day

The early events are full of warmth and laughter, and we photograph them with the same care as the Anand Karaj. The jaggo night brings an evening of music, dancing and candlelit pots before the wedding day itself.

On the wedding day, the milni, the Anand Karaj and the four laavan build to the doli and the reception. The wedding day itself is a journey, from the morning milni and the kirtan to the laavan and the doli.

Why choose us

Trusted with the Anand Karaj near Westminster

Decades of gurdwara weddings mean we read the day instinctively and never miss the milni or the doli. Over a thousand celebrations have taught us when to step close for the milni and when to stand quietly back during the laavan.

We are London-based and travel across Greater London and the wider region for the Anand Karaj and every event around it. From our London base, Westminster and the gurdwaras of Greater London are an easy, familiar journey.

Where we travel

A Sikh wedding photographer near Westminster

Multi-venue Sikh days are never an issue; we plan the route from the gurdwara to the reception and the timings in advance. We factor in the early gurdwara timings and the milni carefully, so we are always in position before the four laavan.

Of course. Whether it is an intimate Anand Karaj or a celebration of several hundred, we tailor our coverage to your day and your family.

Yes. We understand that gurdwaras often require an early finish, so the Anand Karaj usually falls in the morning. We plan our coverage around it and always arrive in good time.

Yes. We understand gurdwara etiquette, cover our heads, remove our shoes and work from the sides and back with a long lens, never turning our back to the Guru Granth Sahib.

Yes. A pre-wedding shoot is a lovely way to relax in front of the camera before the big day, and we are happy to arrange one at a location you love.

Very much so. We know the ceremony by heart, from the milni and the kirtan to the ardaas and the four laavan, and we position ourselves so each laav is captured calmly and respectfully.
