The darbar hall puts everything at floor level, and us with it. Two hours seated among the sangat rules out a monopod and rules in a small body held low and moved slowly. Heads covered, feet bare, no lens turned where it should not go. Flash is out altogether, which costs less than it sounds: congregational lighting never varies, so one white balance and one exposure hold from the first kirtan to the ardas.
Four circuits, not one aisle. An anand karaj offers the same walk from four different edges: once from behind the sangat, once low and wide, once tight on the palla without crowding it. Milni comes outdoors and early, in whatever flat light the morning supplies. Langar returns the camera to the carpet, where the queue and the serving matter more than the plates. Last comes the doli, a departure we would rather cover too far back than too close.
