Three ceremonies, three sets of rules
Establish early who is running each ceremony and what they want from a photographer. One family answers with a mandap, and the answer fixes your angles for a whole hour. Another answers with the place the sangat sits, which fixes distance instead of angle. A third settles it with a nikah, where the constraint is not position but consent. No one of those is more difficult. They simply fail in different ways when nobody thought to ask.
So no single lighting plan survives a week.
