For Hatch End
Before the visit we agree a list of shots and the order they happen in, and the order matters more, because it decides which room has to be free at which hour.
On the day we work through it and show you frames as we go, so anything wrong gets fixed while the lights are still standing. Files come back colour-matched across the whole set, cropped for web and for print, and cleared for whatever use you have in mind.

What we offer
Team portraits photographed at your premises, matched so later joiners drop into the same set.
Interiors and premises lit with equipment we bring, not with the ceiling fitting you happen to have.
Event and conference coverage, including hall venues on Uxbridge Road, worked without disruptive flash.
Why choose us
Sessions are planned around your schedule, in our Northwood studio or on location, whichever suits the work best. Files are colour-managed for both screen and print, so what you approve is what appears on your website and in your catalogue.
A commercial session can cover product shots, team headshots, lifestyle brand images or all three in a single visit. The lighting setup used for a team is recorded, so new staff photographed months later match the people already sitting on your website.

Good to know
Yes, and most commercial bookings in Hatch End happen that way. What we need is one room we can have for an hour, three metres of clear floor if you can spare it, and a wall that is not glass. Everything else, lights, stands and background, arrives with us. Half an hour of notice to clear the room beats moving furniture with us standing there.
Definitely. Because we note down the lighting and backdrop we used, we can bring new staff into line with your existing headshots whenever they join. That keeps team pages on your Hatch End website and LinkedIn looking uniform, however often people come and go.
Yes, though products are usually better brought to the Northwood studio than photographed on your premises. The reason is repeatability rather than convenience: a setup recorded at the studio can be reproduced exactly next year, so a new item drops into the existing set without looking newer than the rest. On-site product work makes sense when the item is too large or too fixed to move.
Turnaround is fast, because we know a product launch or a new website will not wait. Most commercial galleries are ready within a few days, delivered online in both web and print sizes. Urgent jobs can often be prioritised, so please just ask. Around Hatch End we plan for landmarks such as Harrow Arts Centre and its Elliott Hall on Uxbridge Road.
Yes. In Hatch End that often means a hall rather than a conference suite, Harrow Arts Centre and its Elliott Hall on Uxbridge Road being the obvious ones. A hall is a low-light job: flash during a talk is out, so we work fast lenses from positions agreed at the start and accept the colour the room's own rig gives us. Portraits of speakers are better done in a side room beforehand.

A village-feel corner of Harrow forming the north-eastern part of Pinner, with tree-lined streets and period houses. Served by Hatch End station on the London Overground Lioness line in fare zone 6. Harrow Arts Centre and its Elliott Hall on Uxbridge Road is a well-known local landmark in the area.

Commercial work out of Hatch End is shaped by the fact that this is a residential corner of Harrow rather than a business district. The premises are period houses, converted rooms and the front half of somebody's home, so the usual problem is not a large space badly lit but a small space with one window and a low ceiling. A low white ceiling is an asset, because it can be bounced off and turned into the light source. A low papered or coloured one is a liability, because everything bounced off it returns tinted and every face in the room picks up the same cast. Establishing which of the two we are dealing with before the visit changes what gets carried through the door. Small rooms create the other recurring problem, which is distance. A flattering head and shoulders wants the camera well back with a long lens on it, and a period front room does not offer the length, so a wide lens ends up close in and noses come out larger than life. The way round it is to work along the diagonal of the room instead of across it, which buys more space than it seems it should, and to stand the subject a good arm's length off the wall so the background falls away rather than showing every shadow. Where a team is built up over more than one visit, camera height is the thing to hold constant, since a face lit from six inches higher reads as a different photograph and nobody can quite say why.
