The sitting is guided from start to finish. Kaushik explains each pose simply, adjusts the small details that change a portrait, and varies the framing so you end up with close, mid and full length pictures rather than one look repeated many times.
After the session your images appear in an online gallery, where you choose favourites at leisure. Retouching is restrained, the files come ready for screen and print, and frames, canvases, prints or albums can be ordered when you want a portrait to hang or give away.

My daughter and her fiancé went to Kaushik for their photos, and we had a wonderful experience. He is incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful. He really took his time with them and captured beautiful, professional-quality photos. We highly recommend Kaushik Photography!

Local and experienced
The studio is quiet and private, and there is time to get comfortable before the first frame is taken. Kaushik gives gentle direction throughout, steering you into flattering angles without the pose ever feeling stiff.
Actor and model portfolios include a spread of looks and expressions, from clean commercial frames to characterful ones. A gentle retouch is part of every portrait, clearing stray blemishes but leaving skin texture and features honest.

Good to know
Yes, and you would be in good company, because very few people feel natural being photographed. Kaushik directs each pose clearly, begins with simple frames that ask little of you, and shows you early results so you can see what is working. Confidence tends to arrive a few minutes in, and the best pictures follow.
Both are possible. The Northwood studio is about 4 miles from Bushey Heath, two minutes on foot from Northwood Hills station and with parking nearby. Outdoors, Stanmore Common and the Bushey Rose Garden are close to the village, and sessions on location can be arranged within about 20 miles of the studio.
Yes. Someone can join for part of the session, so you finish with solo portraits and a few pictures together. It often helps a nervous sitter relax, too. Let us know when you book so time is set aside for the shared frames.
Pick well-fitting clothes you feel at ease in, since comfort shows on your face in a portrait. Solid colours and soft textures photograph better than bold patterns or large logos. For an outdoor session on the ridge at Bushey Heath, add a layer you can remove between frames, and bring a second outfit if you want variety.
It varies with what you want, from a focused studio sitting to a longer outdoor session moving between woodland and open heath. The length is agreed when you book, with enough time built in to settle, change outfits and never feel hurried.
Serving Bushey Heath
Bushey Heath, the hilltop village in Hertsmere above Bushey, falls within the Hertfordshire area covered for portrait sittings. It sits close to Bushey and Carpenders Park, which we cover too. Portrait sitters from the village can equally come in to the Northwood studio, about 4 miles away.
Bushey Heath sits high on the ridge at around 153 metres, on old heath and common land that once divided Hertfordshire from Middlesex. Homes grew up along the High Road, and green space still surrounds the village on every side, giving an outdoor portrait plenty of open settings. For portrait clients using the Tube, Stanmore station on the Jubilee line is roughly two miles from Bushey Heath. When a session suits an outdoor setting, Merry Hill Local Nature Reserve near Bushey Heath is one option.

Bushey Heath clients booking a portrait can use the same studio for headshots, family pictures, pet sessions and commercial shoots. Guides
Portrait guides from our journal worth reading before a sitting from Bushey Heath.
Bushey Heath sits high on the ridge above Bushey, and for portrait work that height is the point: open sky, long views and wind that can either lift a picture or ruin a hairstyle. Stanmore Common lies close by, a Local Nature Reserve of woodland and heathland with two ponds and an older wood at The Grove, and its mix of trees and open heath gives a sitter both dappled shade and a clean horizon within a few minutes' walk. Merry Hill Local Nature Reserve is another green option near the village. In the Bushey Rose Garden, a short way down the hill in Bushey, the sunken garden, rose walk, pergola and cloisters offer architecture and planting together, which suits a more composed, editorial portrait. On a hilltop the light changes quickly, so an outdoor session is planned with a little slack in it, and a jacket for between frames keeps a sitter from looking cold. Woodland paths can be soft underfoot, so flat shoes for walking and a second pair for the pictures are a good idea. When the weather is against you, or the portrait needs a precise studio look, the Northwood studio is about 4 miles from Bushey Heath, two minutes' walk from Northwood Hills station, with parking close by.
