Two things shape headshot work in Bexley and neither shows up in the picture. Bexleyheath station runs a direct service into London Charing Cross, so a good many of the people being photographed are out of the borough between the morning and evening trains, which puts a team sitting at one end of a working day or the other, never in the middle. The A2 crosses the borough, so the lighting comes in by road and there is never a question of whether it will fit up a staircase. The rooms themselves are the more interesting constraint. Premises in a settled suburban borough tend to be small, an office above a shop rather than a floor in a tower, and a low pale ceiling gets treated as a handicap when it is the opposite: aim a light into it and it turns into a very large soft source, so a small room fills evenly where a big one never manages. What a small room withholds is distance, so a long lens is out and the backdrop gets carried in and stood up behind you rather than discovered somewhere in the space.
