The animal sets the length. Forty minutes is usually the ceiling for a dog; a cat may give three good minutes and then walk off, so we work in short goes and wait out the gaps rather than chasing.
You receive an edited set, with the strongest frames also supplied in black and white, which suits a dark coat better than colour often does. Nothing is cloned off an animal: a grey muzzle is the picture, not a fault to be tidied.

What we offer
A dog that has just had a proper run photographs far better than one straight out of the house.
Nervous animals set the pace: we hang back, work longer, and let them come to the camera first.
An old dog is photographed near the car on level ground, with no distance asked of it at all.
Why choose us
We stay flexible, moving from studio to garden or park if that is where your pet is happiest and most itself. Distance and a longer lens suit horses, since standing close distorts the head badly and a horse in a stable rarely enjoys being crowded by a stranger.
Home sessions suit cats, small pets and anxious dogs, since the animal never has to leave the one place where it already feels completely safe. Family portraits with the pet included are a lovely option, so everyone, four legs and two, is in the frame.

Good to know
Regularly, and gladly. Those early weeks pass in a blink, so a puppy or kitten session holds on to them. We keep the mood gentle and playful, photographing in short bursts while the little one explores, capturing all the character of those first few months. Around Havering we plan for landmarks such as Bower House of 1729 in the hilltop village of Havering-atte-Bower.
Very soon. We work to a fast turnaround, so there is little waiting once your session is done. As soon as the gallery of edited images is ready, you can enjoy it, share it and pick your favourites, with our help choosing prints, frames or canvases. Open air sessions near Havering can use Bedfords Park at Havering-atte-Bower, home to a red deer herd.
The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6. For pet work in Havering it usually makes no odds, because dogs are photographed where they already walk and cats do not travel well, so we come to you. The room earns its keep for small animals that need containing, for wet winter days, and when a plain dark or light background suits the animal better than grass does.
Because we plan around the deer rather than pretend they are not there. The herd at Bedfords Park means a lead stays on, so that ground is used for held, still frames, and anything loose is booked at your garden or your usual walk instead. We start an hour or so before sunset, when low light rakes along a coat and even a black dog keeps an outline.
Yes. Alongside your edited digital gallery, we offer fine prints, framed pictures and canvases, so your favourite images can go straight onto the wall at home in Havering. We are glad to help you choose sizes and finishes that suit your rooms.

The single fact that shapes a dog session in Havering is the red deer herd at Bedfords Park. Where deer are kept, dogs stay on the lead, and that is not a rule you talk your way out of by owning a well trained animal. It also has an effect nobody warns owners about: a dog arriving on ground that smells of deer is not really available to you for the first stretch. Its nose is full, its head is up, and no word you own competes with that. A full lap of the ground before the camera comes out is not wasted time, it is the price of having any attention afterwards. What follows is that the two kinds of dog picture have to be separated. Still frames work there, with the animal held, the lead run behind the body or slipped off with a hand on the collar just outside the frame. The loose, ears-back, coming-straight-at-you frames do not, and pretending otherwise buys a session of near misses. Those belong on ground you control, a garden, a paddock, or wherever your usual walk finishes. Coat then decides the rest. Black and dark liver dogs carry almost no detail of their own, so they need light skimming along the back and a ground behind them sitting a stop or two brighter. That is a matter of where the dog is standing, not of what gets done to the file later. A dark coat lifted in editing turns grey and grainy and stops looking like the animal it came from.
