The single fact that shapes a dog session in Havering is the red deer herd at Bedfords Park. Where deer are kept, dogs stay on the lead, and that is not a rule you talk your way out of by owning a well trained animal. It also has an effect nobody warns owners about: a dog arriving on ground that smells of deer is not really available to you for the first stretch. Its nose is full, its head is up, and no word you own competes with that. A full lap of the ground before the camera comes out is not wasted time, it is the price of having any attention afterwards.
